Hello everyone! How are you all doing? This is the first time in the last week that I can really sit long in front of the computer. I have been out most of the time this week because I'm job hunting with my bf. I did not accept the job offer of the hospital near our place that I told you guys about because the salary is too low for me (around Php6k a month only and they will need to deduct SSS and Philhealth fees from that too)..So me and my bf decided to just give up nursing here in the Philippines and just go back to the call center industry (anyway, hospitals here offer the same salary range and they are not hiring as of the moment or anytime in the near future). At least in this industry, the smallest salary I can expect is php10k per month even with the deductions. Shifting schedules can never be a problem for me since I'm already used to it..my only problem now is some call center companies are not welcoming nurses or nursing graduates because majority don't stay long. This is sad but this can't be helped coz it is true. At first I want to go back doing general transcribing but I can't find a company that offers this now. So we decided to try our luck on other non-voice accounts too but sadly, these openings are easily filled. We are now applying for customer service representative position. I'm putting tech support as my last option since I don't know anything about fixing things (I tried it once but I only lasted 1 month). We have applied on couple of companies already but either the location is too far, they don't have an opening for csr or they don't want me coz I was unable to pass their expectations hehe. We are going to Makati area on Monday to try our luck there. Makati and Buendia area are very accessible to us compared to those on QC area (like Libis) because Makati can be reached thru trains so travel time is shorter and fare is cheaper. So wish us luck! We are both hoping to get hired before the month ends because both of our birthdays is on November and we want to have a stable job before that day arrives.
By the way, thank you for the well wishes! I am now almost fully recovered from my illness. I really hate getting allergic reactions because it can cause me to have more problems like this one (tonsilitis and cough). I'm so glad I am now okay..I hate coughing especially when I'm in a public place..it's embarassing..anyways, I hope I can get to post regularly again..I don't know what to post hehe..any suggestions or request? If you have, do post away on the comment box below..
Thank you so much for dropping by! Till my next post. Bye! ^_^

Good luck Gale! I hope you find a good job that does pay well. Keep yourself healthy!
good luck! my medtech friend told me the hospital she's OJT-ing has nursing applicants' forms piled up around 2000+ forms already during the year 2006 yata 0_0
I'm about to graduate too so it's a big gulp for me to grasp the unemployment problem. Hope we all find good jobs with good compensation! =)
Good luck to you and your boyfriend sis!:) How's the application abroad going? I read in some of your previous posts that you plan to work in Canada. I hope you find success in the call center for the meantime.:)
Lelila - Thank you sis! I'll check your new site later..thanks sa headsup :)
Nikki - hehe yup! can you imagine? it looks like I'm working for nothing haha..thank you! I hope I can find one soon :)
Nikkiz - thank you sis! :)
Chelle - Hi! your friend is right..majority of hospitals here in Manila just pool resumes but they rarely hire people to be new staff..good luck to you too..I hope by the time you got your license many slots are available for you already :)
Soapaholic - thank you! We do plan to apply for immigrant but we can't start applying yet coz we need to have a job first..I hope in a year or two we can fly there together :)
kikay narses unite! new follower here! hay i know how you feel. i'm a nurse volunteer, and as much as i want to go call center-ing too, my mom won't allow me to do so because she says i just need experience, blah blah and my luck is going to change soon, i just need to be a little more patient. hay. anyway good luck with the job hunting! i think teleperformance is accepting applicants who are nurses and bsn grads as well. a couple of my classmates just got hired a month ago
kikayfetz - hi! I know what you mean..my parents are like that too before but after 2 years, they now accepted the fact that I can't work as a nurse here in the Philippines hehe..I have undergone 2 trainings already and both are paid by me..did you know that having trainings and being a volunteer is not considered as "experience" by agencies? that is the reason why I stopped paying for trainings because I can't use my certificates when I'm applying even for a nursing assistant position abroad..sad but true..I hope you can be luckier than me..thanks for the heads up on teleperformance..I'll give that a try :)
Good luck, Gale. And nice to know you're feeling better. That 6k won't be enough. Gah! That's just some people's tax! That's just oo low considering all the hard work you all will be doing. Go find a better paying job. I'm doing that too. ;)
Gale, TP or Teleperformance is really a baaaaad call center. IBM Daksh hires nursing grads. I think most call centers hire nursing grads recently. But please, please please. Never in Teleperformance. :)
Good luck with the job hunting, sweetie :)
Pammy - thanks for the help yesterday!
Teeyah - thanks!:)
